Object Story |
Issued to Charles Henry Brooks, of North Fredericksburgh, in recognition of his wartime service in the Second World War. Charles was born August 2, 1925. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Army Medical Corps on November 15, 1943. His trade was ambulance orderly. He served in World War II in Canada, the United Kingdom and Continental Europe. He was discharged from the military April 24, 1946 with the rank of Private. The Canadian Volunteer Service Medal was awarded to a person of any rank who voluntarily served on active service, honourably for 18 months. The 18 months of service were between September 3, 1939 and March 1, 1947. Ribbon bars are worn in place of the corresponding medal when it is considered inappropriate to wear the full medal. The maple leaf device in the center would have been awarded for 60 days of service outside of Canada. |
