Object Story |
This sideboard was custom made for Joseph VanAlstyne, whose family lived just north of Napanee. The inkwell holder inside one of the drawers suggests that it may also have been used to keep important family papers. On the 1891 census, Joseph VanAlstyne is listed as a "retired farmer" at age 70 and is living with his wife Elizabeth and two grown children, Mathia and William. |
