John Gibbard, a staunch member of the Methodist Church since his conversion in 1837, had assisted with building the Old White Church, the first Methodist Episcopal Church in Napanee. In 1873, he also assisted with its successor, the Western Methodist Church (now Grace United Church), a brick church with flying buttresses capped with limestone. This Communion Service was presented to the Western Methodist Church by John Gibbard in 1873. |
