Object Story |
This is a handwoven linen blanket or sheet made by Mary Sophrenia Long (May 27 1845-Apr. 1 1930), and is signed with her initials M.L. The sheet was made from flax grown on the George Long farm in Richmond Township. Mary was the daughter of George Long and Mary Fretts (July 5 1820-May 28 1845), who married June 1, 1843. The colourful floral binding at either end was later added by Mabel Milling (nee Long) (b.1896). |
