Object Story |
This hand-stitched quilt was made by Mrs. Isiah (Susan) Huffman of Richmond Township, and bears her signature and the date 1855. The appliqued flowers arranged on the quilt express the life of a tulip, from bud to full bloom. Some of the tulips are stuffed with cotton, giving a three-dimensional quality to the piece. Huffman's daughter Susan Emily was born in 1855, so this quilt may have been made for her. |
