Object Story |
This quilt was made by Melissa Garrison-Warner, and includes the names of Yarker, Colebrook and Newburg area residents scribed by her hand. As with most signature quilts, money was raised with each signature, and at the centre of the quilt is written Ladies Aid, $100.50, 1913, and Colebrook, suggesting that this quilt raised $100.50 for the Colebrook area Ladies Aid in 1913. Melissa's granddaughter Doris Warner Anderson of Napanee had a great fondness for this quilt, which, once passed down to her, was always kept on her bed with great care, and never taken on family picnics like other quilts of hers. |
