Object Story |
The 1920's showed the first emergence of advertising and marketing to the everyday person; brands began to advertise their products as needed items that people should want to buy as oppose to simply providing just straight information on the product. This can be seen in the decoration of the shoe box which states that "A baby could go barefoot in a So~Cosy shoe and never miss the stockings". This increase in advertising and marketing could also be attributed to the end of World War I. Post war people were more eager to enjoy life and the products available to them that were absent during times of war. This increase in advertising and marketing along with new inventions such as washing machines and refrigerators encouraged consumer culture. |
