Object Story |
Issued to Charles Henry Brooks, a member of the Canadian Army Pacific Force (CAPF). Charles was born August 2, 1925. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Army Medical Corps on November 15, 1943. His trade was ambulance orderly. He served in World War II in Canada, the United Kingdom and Continental Europe. He was a member of the CAPF though he never made it to the pacific before the war ended. He was discharged from the military April 24, 1946 with the rank of Private. These patches were distributed to the CAPF, also known as the 6th Canadian Infantry division. This organization was raised in Canada in 1945 for the purpose of participating in the last phase in the war against Japan. The units of the division began assembling at their home stations in August of 1945, however the Japanese surrendered in September of that year, rendering the CAPF unnecessary, and officially disbanded in November of 1945. The patches are divided in six sections of different colours representing the five divisions and armoured brigades that served in Europe. |
