This sickle belonged on the farm of Russell Harrold Long and Jannet Catherine Long (nee Weese) and was used by their son Ross to cut corn on his way to and from school. Russell Harrold Long was born July 23, 1884 in Sheffield, ON to Sanford Long (1859-1932) and Mary Ann Kehoe (1864-1937). His family was living in Sheffield Township. At the age of 29 Russell married Jannet Catherine (Nettie) Weese in Centerville, February 4, 1914. The couple had four children, including Ross Long, who frequently used this sickle. Ross Edward Long was born October 19, 1918, likely in Tamworth.
