Cedar flour scoop with handle, one piece. Scoop has a rectangular bottom with a rounded back piece that tappers into an approximately cylindrical handle. Sides of scoop start at the same height as the backboard and angle down to nothing at the front of the scoop. |
Object Story |
The Flour scoop was from the summer home of Manly Edward MacDonald. Manly was born in Point Anne, Ontario, August 15, 1889. In his youth he worked as a farmer and as a commercial fisherman. He would attend several prestigious art schools. He mainly painted scenery in a fluid semi-impressionistic style. He married Beverley Lambe of Shannonville on July 18, 1918. The marriage took place in York Ontario. The couple had two children Duncan MacDonald and Sally MacDonald. In 1956 the family bought a summer house that was located on the River Road, south of Napanee. The house was a 1 & 1/2 storey brick home. |
