Arrow back chair, painted black with colourful floral designs and gold accents. The chair's backrest leans back slightly with 2 crest rails, and four turned posts between the seat and the first crest rail. Rounded seat edge with addition piece of wood attached so that the seat rounds completely under. Turned front legs with a turned stretcher between. Back legs are straight cylinders with a single dowel like stretcher between them, and between the remaining sides. Legs flair out slightly |

This seat belonged to Hazel VanAlstyne. Hazel was born October 31, 1898 to William Duncan VanAlstyne and Loretta Addie Brown, who had been married December 30, 1898. The family lived in Napanee, but by the age of 23 Hazel was living in the Village of Bath and working as a teacher. She was also the secretary for the Lennox and Addington Historical Society, and was the first curator of the County Museum. |
