Vimy Pilgrimage Medal - Canadian Legion 1936. Obverse features the Vimy Memorial with a large cross in the background, a partial wreath of poppies is underneath the center image, there is a ribbon with the words "Vimy Pilgrimage" along the top arch of the medal. The reverse is plain with only "J. R. GAUNT" engraved near the bottom. Top bar features a background of maples leaves with a beaver in the foreground, all on top of the bar which reads "Canadian Legion//1936". |

Vimy Pilgrimage Canadian Legion Medal awarded to miss Lenora Herrington. Miss Lenora Herrington was four years in France as a nursing sister in World War I and was decorated with a military medal. She was the sole person from Lennox and Addington to attend the Vimy Pilgrimage in 1936. Each one attending from Canada was given a decorative medal by the Canadian Legion. On Sunday August 2nd, the French Government gave to each an ash tray and those wearing khaki berets were presented with a bronze Vimy Medal showing the Canadian War Memorial on one side. |
