Object Story |
This child size jacket was made in England in the early 1900s out of synthetic fur. This jacket was once worn by Mabel Macdonald in England before moving to the Napanee area with her family just before World War One. Their move was preceded by her uncle William MacDonald to Point Anne, Ontario, who was the father of Manley MacDonald. Manley was a famous semi-fluid impressionist scenery painter who in his career had two paintings featured in Queen Elizabeth II's personal collection. Living in the Napanee area, Mabel gave birth to her daughter Mabel Jean Gazley in 1918, as well as her younger son James E. "Ernie" Gazley in 1920. James later married Harriet "Jean" Gazley (nee O'Neil) and had two children Ted and Dianne. Both lived to 90 years old, with James dying in 2010 and Harriet dying in 2019 leaving behind their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. |
