Medal composed of a shiny silver pendant and clasp, ribbon, and silver metal pin with a C clasp. Ribbon is white with a thick blue border on either side and 5 thin red vertical lines. Obverse of medal is the royal cipher "EIIR" surmounted by the royal crown, superimposed on a maple leaf. Text "CONFEDERATION CONFEDERATION// 1867-1992" around the outer circumference of the obverse of the medal. Reverse of medal has the Coat of Arms of Canada, in the center above text "A MARI USQUE AD MARE" which curves along the bottom of the medal face. Clasp holding pendant to the ribbon is decorated with a small maple leaf. |

Commemorative Medal for the 125th anniversary of the Confederation of Canada awarded in 1992 to Norman Bell of Yarker for the significant contribution made to fellow citizens, community, and Canada. The Medal was awarded to Norman by the Member of Parliament for Hastings-Frontenac-Lennox and Addington, Bill Vankoughnet, on behalf of the Queen and Governor General of Canada, John Hnatyshyn. Norman Horatio Bell was born April 11, 1923 to Frederick T. Bell and Grace A. O'Neil. He was baptized June 3rd, 1923. His parents had gotten married earlier the previous year by Rev. G.S. White. At the time Norman was baptized the family was living in Camden Township, Concession 4, lot 34 between Desmond and Moscow. In 1955 he is recorded as living in Moscow. Norman worked as an Advertising Executive. He married Audrey Aileen Correll April 28, 1967, in Toronto. Together they had two sons David Francis Bell and Jonathan Bell. In 1992 when he received this medal he lived in Yarker. He was also the President of The Lennox and Addington Historical Society 1992-1995. He passed away in 1996. |
