Object Story |
Communion plate from Camden VIII Presbyterian Church. Families with north Irish Presbyterian origins were settling in the northern sections of Camden Township from the 1820's. Camden VIII Church was erected in 1844 on land donated by William Wilson. Prior to 1844 services were held at home of Robert Reid, Chippewa, and Loyalist Jacob Rombough north of Centreville. Camden VIII was a mission of Kingston Presbytery through Camden V and Newburgh. During the period of the first resident minister, 1881-1893, the name was changed to KNOX. From 1921-1925, the Church was under Tamworth Methodist. In 1925, KNOX became an United Church. |
