Tin candle holder. Candle holder has a circular dish with rounded edges as a base, there is a ring starting along the edge and curving under the dish creating a handle. Protruding from the center of the dish is a tin tube weighted at the base with metal in the base of the tube. The tube flares at the top and holds a white candle that descends into the tube. Remnants of an orange/brown wax near the base of the tube. |
Object Story |
This candle holder is from the Rombough Farm near Centreville erected on lots 26 and 27 of Concession 6, in the Township of Camden. The house was built in 1831 and owned by Squire Jacob Rombough, a Justice of the Peace and the first court in Camden was held in the upstairs of this house. Jacob Rombough was the great grandfather of the donor. |
