Description |
These three black and white film negatives depict a commemorative service held at the Anglican Church of St. Alban the Martyr at Adolphustown. The service was an annual event, commemorating the arrival of the United Empire Loyalists at Adolphustown. Seen in the first image, from left to right, are: Bishop Henry Hill of the Anglican Diocese of Ontario, who gave the sermon; retired Reverend J.B. Creeggan, former Bishop of Ontario; and Reverend Edward Carne, Rector of St. Alban the Martyr Church. The church of St. Alban the Martyr is visible in the background behind the three clerics. In the foreground, on the right hand side of the image, an Ontario historic plaque explains the history of the site and the early Anglican Loyalists. In the second image, the same three clergy members stand in front of the church's tower. The first image was published on page 2 of the Napanee Beaver's June 11 1975 issue. |
