Description Note |
This Ontario Progressive Conservative Party Election sign was created for Bill Vankoughnet's campaign to become the MPP for the Frontenac-Addington riding in the 1995 provincial election. Bill Vankoughnet won this election and became the MPP for this riding from 1995 to 1999 followed by the merge of the riding into the Hastings-Frontenac-Lennox and Addington riding. William "Bill" John Vankoughnet was born on January 7th, 1943 in Kingston, Ontario. Bill has had a prolific political career beginning with his election as the MP for the Hastings-Frontenac riding between 1979 and 1984 for the Progressive-Conservative Party. He followed this with a two-time re-election into the MP position for the newly created Hastings-Frontenac-Lennox and Addington riding between 1984 and 1993 for the Canada PC party. Two years later in 1995 he was elected into the provincial government as the Ontario PC party MPP for the Frontenac-Addington riding until 1999. In 2004 he attempted to run independently for the Lanark-Frontenac-Lennox and Addington Federal riding but did not win the election. Bill is still alive as of July 2024. |
